The publication of the journal "Problems in Programming" was launched in 1999 in accordance with the Resolution of the Presidium of the National Academy of Sciences of Ukraine No. 91 dated March 10, 1999. The editor-in-chief of the journal since 2023 is the corresponding member of the NAS of Ukraine, I.P. Sinitsyn. The founding of the journal was prompted by the need for comprehensive assistance in the development and coordination of scientific research in the field of programming. The main task of the journal is the publication of original and review papers on programming for specialists of academic and industry institutes, other specialists working in the field of programming.
The journal has a Certificate of State Registration of a Printed Media Series KV No. 7490 dated July 1, 2003.
By order of the Ministry of Education and Science of Ukraine No. 409 dated March 17, 2020, as well as in accordance with the Register of Scientific Publications of Ukraine the journal "Problems in Programming" (ISSN: print edition - 1727-4907) was assigned category B and included in the List of scientific professional publications of Ukraine, in which the results of dissertations for the degrees of Doctor of Sciences, Candidate of Sciences and Doctor of Philosophy in the field of technical sciences in the following specialties may be published:
- 121 - software engineering;
- 122 - computer science;
- 123 - computer engineering;
- 124 - system analysis;
- 125 - cybersecurity;
- 126 - information systems and technologies.
Periodically, once every two years, the journal publishes materials of the International Scientific and Practical Conference on Programming "UkrPROG". The last 14th conference, the materials of which were published in a special issue of the journal, took place in May 2024.
